Ninomaru Palace

Ninomaru Palace is a historic residence located within Nijo Castle in Kyoto, Japan. Built in the early 17th century as the Kyoto residence for shoguns of the Tokugawa family, it exemplifies traditional Japanese architecture and design. The palace features ornate rooms with beautiful woodwork, sliding doors, and painted screens, used for official ceremonies and meetings. Its "nightingale floors" are designed to chirp underfoot, serving as security against intruders. Today, Ninomaru Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site, offering visitors a glimpse into Japan’s political and cultural history during the Edo period.
