NIMBYism
NIMBYism stands for “Not In My Backyard.” It describes the phenomenon where people support a project or initiative, like building a school or renewable energy facility, but oppose its placement near their own homes. While they recognize the need for such developments, they prefer them to be located far away. This attitude can hinder necessary infrastructure improvements and community projects due to local resistance, despite broader societal benefits. NIMBYism reflects a common tension between individual preferences and collective needs in community planning and development.
