Nikolai Rubinstein

Nikolai Rubinstein was a renowned 19th-century Russian pianist, conductor, and music teacher. He was a close friend and supporter of composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Rubinstein was known for his technical skill and dedication to music education, founding the Moscow Conservatory. Despite his talents, his relationship with Tchaikovsky was complex; they had disagreements over musical interpretation, notably involving the premiere of Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto.
