Nikolai Gumilyov

Nikolai Gumilyov was a Russian poet and literary critic, known for his passionate and nationalistic poetry that celebrated Russian history and culture. Born in 1886, he was part of the Acmeist movement, emphasizing clarity and craftsmanship in poetry. Gumilyov's work often fused personal emotion with cultural pride, and he also wrote essays on history and mythology. He was married to the famous poet Anna Akhmatova. His life ended tragically in 1921 when he was executed by the Soviet secret police, symbolizing the turbulent political climate of his era.
