Nightjar

A nightjar is a bird known for its excellent camouflage and crepuscular or nocturnal habits, meaning it is most active during dusk, night, and dawn. They have cryptic plumage that blends seamlessly into leaf litter and ground cover, helping them avoid predators. Nightjars have slender bodies, long wings, and are adept at flying quietly, which aids in hunting insects. They primarily feed on moths and beetles, capturing them mid-flight. Despite their bird classification, nightjars often resemble small, drab, ground-dwelling birds, and their distinctive churring call is heard during their active hours at night.
