Nigeria-Biafra Conflict
The Nigeria-Biafra Conflict, spanning from 1967 to 1970, was a civil war caused by ethnic tensions, political instability, and economic disparities after Nigeria's independence. The southeastern region, predominantly Igbo, sought to secede and form the Republic of Biafra due to perceived marginalization. The Nigerian government opposed this secession, leading to a brutal conflict marked by military battles, famine, and widespread suffering. The war ended with Nigeria reabsorbing Biafra into the country, but it left lasting scars on Nigeria’s social and political landscape.
