Niels Bohr (physicist)

Niels Bohr was a Danish physicist who developed a model of the atom in the early 20th century. He proposed that electrons orbit the nucleus at specific, quantized energy levels, and they can jump between these levels by absorbing or emitting energy. This idea helped explain atomic stability and the spectral lines of elements. Bohr’s work was foundational in quantum mechanics, challenging classical physics principles, and earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922. His contributions significantly advanced our understanding of atomic structure and the behavior of matter at microscopic scales.
