Sir Nicholas Winton was a British humanitarian known for organizing the rescue of 669 Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia just before World War II. In 1939, he arranged for the children to be transported to safety in Britain, securing their admission and arranging foster homes. His efforts remained largely unknown until 1988, when his wife uncovered a forgotten scrapbook. Winton’s actions saved many lives, embodying compassion, courage, and moral integrity amidst the horrors of the Holocaust. He was later recognized as a Righteous Among the Nations and received numerous honors for his extraordinary humanitarian work.
