Nicaea Councils

The Nicaea Councils were a series of important church meetings held in the city of Nicaea (modern-day İznik, Turkey), primarily in 325 CE. The first, known as the First Council of Nicaea, aimed to resolve disputes about Jesus Christ’s divine nature and address church unity. It resulted in the Nicene Creed, a formal statement of Christian faith that clarified Jesus' divinity and established church doctrines. Subsequent councils, like the Second (787 CE), addressed other theological and disciplinary issues. These councils helped shape Christianity’s core beliefs and church structure, influencing Western Christian tradition profoundly.
