Nicaea, now called İznik in Turkey, was an ancient city famous for hosting the First Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. This was a significant gathering of Christian bishops who came together to address theological disputes, particularly the nature of Jesus Christ and his relationship to God. The council resulted in the Nicene Creed, a statement of faith still used in Christianity today.
