NIAID, or the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is a part of the U.S. government’s health agency. It funds and conducts research to better understand, treat, and prevent infectious diseases like COVID-19, influenza, HIV/AIDS, and other allergies and immune system conditions. Its goal is to improve global health through scientific discovery, developing vaccines, medications, and strategies to control infectious threats. NIAID works with scientists, healthcare providers, and policymakers to address current health challenges and prepare for future outbreaks.
