NH3 (Ammonia)
Ammonia (NH₃) is a colorless gas with a sharp, pungent smell. It consists of one nitrogen atom bonded to three hydrogen atoms. Ammonia is naturally produced in small amounts by living organisms and is also widely used in industry, especially as a key ingredient in fertilizers to help plants grow. It readily dissolves in water, forming a strong base called ammonium hydroxide. While useful, ammonia can be harmful or irritating to skin, eyes, and respiratory systems if not handled properly. It plays a vital role in the nitrogen cycle, essential for maintaining life on Earth.
