NGU (non-gonococcal urethritis)

Non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) is an inflammation of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body, not caused by gonorrhea. It is often caused by infections from bacteria such as Chlamydia trachomatis or other organisms. Symptoms may include a burning sensation during urination, unusual discharge, or irritation at the opening of the urethra. NGU is typically transmitted through sexual contact. It can be effectively treated with antibiotics, and early diagnosis helps prevent complications. Safe sexual practices reduce the risk of spreading or developing NGU.
