Ngāi Tūāhuriri is a Māori iwi (tribe) based in the South Island of New Zealand, primarily associated with the Ngāi Tahu Confederation. Historically, they are descendants of Tūāhuriri, a prominent chief, and they hold a deep spiritual and cultural connection to the land, water, and natural resources of their rohe (territory). Ngāi Tūāhuriri play an active role in preserving Māori traditions, language, and identity, and have established agreements and initiatives to manage and protect their cultural heritage and natural environment in partnership with wider New Zealand society.
