NFL Championship

The NFL Championship was the final game determining the league's best team before the Super Bowl era began in 1967. It was played between the winners of the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL) to crown the league champion. Starting in 1966, it was known as the NFL Championship Game, and its winner often advanced to the Super Bowl, which was established to unify professional football. Today, the NFL playoffs determine the champion, culminating in the Super Bowl, but historically, the NFL Championship was the decisive game for league supremacy.
