NFAT
NFAT (Nuclear Factor of Activated T-cells) is a protein that helps immune cells called T-cells respond to threats like infections. When a T-cell detects a problem, calcium levels inside the cell rise, activating NFAT. Once activated, NFAT moves into the nucleus (the cell's control center) and turns on specific genes that enable the T-cell to fight the invader. This process is crucial for an effective immune response. NFAT's activity is regulated by signals, ensuring immune responses are controlled and appropriate.
