Nez Perce

The Nez Perce are a Native American tribe originally from the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, including parts of present-day Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Known for their skilled horsemanship and deep spiritual culture, they historically relied on hunting, fishing, and agriculture. In the late 1800s, conflicts arose over land rights when the U.S. government sought to settle their traditional lands for settlers and mining. The Nez Perce resistance, led by Chief Joseph, culminated in a famous military retreat in 1877 as they attempted to reach asylum in Canada, highlighting their strong desire to preserve their homeland and way of life.
