New Zealand Albatross
The New Zealand Albatross, also known as the काठमाडौं, is a large seabird notable for its impressive wingspan, which can reach up to 3 meters (10 feet). It spends most of its life flying over the southern oceans, using air currents to glide effortlessly for hours or days. The bird feeds mainly on fish and squid, often scavenging from fishing vessels. It nests on remote islands along New Zealand’s coast, where it lays a single large egg. Due to threats like habitat loss, fishing gear, and climate change, the New Zealand Albatross is considered critically endangered.
