New York Downtown Athletic Club

The New York Downtown Athletic Club, founded in 1924, was a prestigious private social and athletic club located in Manhattan's Financial District. It offered fitness facilities, dining, and networking opportunities for professionals and sports enthusiasts. The club is well-known for awarding the Heisman Trophy, given annually to the top college football player, named after its former football coach, John Heisman. In 2002, the club closed and its assets were absorbed by the New York Athletic Club, which continues to serve as a prominent athletic organization.
