New South Wales Government Railways

The New South Wales Government Railways (NSWGR) was the state-owned organization responsible for operating train services in New South Wales, Australia. Established in the 19th century, it managed the development, maintenance, and operation of the railway network, enabling freight and passenger transportation across the region. Over time, NSWGR expanded its infrastructure and modernized its fleet to support economic growth and connectivity. In 1972, it was reorganized into the New South Wales Railways and subsequently evolved into part of what is now Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink, which provide urban and regional rail services today.
