New Culture Movement

The New Culture Movement was a social and intellectual movement in China during the early 20th century, around the 1910s and 1920s, advocating for modernization, democracy, and science. It challenged traditional Confucian values and emphasized new ideas like individual rights, education reform, and vernacular language to foster national progress. Led by young scholars and activists, the movement aimed to modernize Chinese society and strengthen the nation by adopting Western ideas while questioning old customs that were seen as obstacles to development.
