New Babylon
New Babylon was an ambitious urban project designed in the 1950s by architect Constant Nieuwenhuys. It envisioned a futuristic city where people could live and work freely, with flexible, modular structures that could be easily reconfigured. The concept aimed to promote creativity, community, and escape from traditional, congested cities. Instead of permanent buildings, New Babylon emphasized adaptable spaces that fostered social interaction and personal freedom. Although it was never built as planned, it influenced ideas about alternative urban living and architectural flexibility, inspiring future discussions on innovative and human-centered city design.
