Nevus (Mole)
A nevus, commonly known as a mole, is a growth on the skin formed by clusters of pigmented cells called melanocytes. These moles are usually tan, brown, or black and can appear anywhere on the body. Most moles are harmless and develop over time due to genetic factors and sun exposure. They can be flat or raised, and their appearance may change slightly with age or sun exposure. While most nevi are benign, it’s important to monitor them for any changes in size, shape, color, or texture, as these could indicate skin cancer, such as melanoma.
