Neurotypical

Neurotypical refers to individuals whose brain development and functioning align with societal norms and expectations. It describes people who do not have diagnoses or neurological differences such as autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent conditions. Essentially, neurotypical individuals process information, communicate, and interact in ways commonly recognized as typical within their cultural context. The term helps differentiate between those who experience the world and function in typical ways and those with diverse neurological experiences. It’s important to note that neurodiversity highlights that variation in brain functioning is natural, and neurotypical is a descriptor of typical cognitive and social functioning.
