Neuroregeneration
Neuroregeneration is the process by which the nervous system repairs or regrows damaged nerve cells, particularly neurons, to restore normal function. Unlike some tissues, nerves have limited natural ability to regenerate, especially in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). However, in the peripheral nervous system (nerves outside the brain and spinal cord), regeneration is more possible, allowing damaged nerves to reconnect and recover. Researchers are exploring ways to enhance neuroregeneration to treat injuries and neurodegenerative diseases, aiming to improve recovery outcomes by promoting nerve growth, repair, and functional restoration.
