neuronal signaling

Neuronal signaling is how nerve cells (neurons) communicate with each other. When a neuron is activated, it generates an electrical impulse called an action potential that travels along its length. At the end of the neuron, this electrical signal triggers the release of chemical messengers called neurotransmitters into a small gap called a synapse. These neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the neighboring neuron, prompting a new electrical signal in that cell. This rapid exchange of electrical and chemical signals allows information, like thoughts, sensations, or movements, to flow efficiently throughout the nervous system.
