neuronal development
Neuronal development is the process by which nerve cells, or neurons, form, mature, and connect to create the brain and nervous system. It begins with neural stem cells that divide and specialize into different neuron types. These neurons grow their axons and dendrites, which are like communication cables, to connect with other neurons. Throughout development, these connections are refined through a process called synaptic pruning, strengthening useful links and eliminating weaker ones. This organization allows the nervous system to process information, control body functions, and support learning and memory. Proper development is essential for normal brain function and behavior.
