Neuromuscular Scoliosis

Neuromuscular scoliosis is a curvature of the spine caused by problems with the nervous system or muscles that support the spine, such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy. These conditions weaken or disrupt normal muscle control, leading to an abnormal sideways curve of the spine that often worsens over time. Unlike other scoliosis types, neuromuscular scoliosis is linked to underlying neurological or muscular issues, making it more challenging to treat. Management may involve bracing or surgery to prevent progression and improve functional ability and quality of life.
