Neurogenic Inflammation
Neurogenic inflammation occurs when nerve fibers in the body release certain chemicals in response to injury or irritation. This release causes blood vessels to dilate and become more permeable, leading to swelling, redness, and pain in the affected area. Essentially, nerves actively participate in the inflammatory process, amplifying the body's response to injury or harmful stimuli. This mechanism plays a role in various conditions, such as allergic reactions, migraines, and some chronic pain syndromes, helping the body defend itself but sometimes contributing to sustained discomfort and tissue changes.
