Neuroadaptation

Neuroadaptation refers to the brain's ability to adjust its functioning in response to repeated or prolonged stimuli, such as drug use, stress, or changing experiences. When exposed to these stimuli over time, neural pathways and chemical balances in the brain modify to maintain stability, which can alter how signals are received and processed. For example, with consistent drug use, the brain may reduce its natural production of certain chemicals or change receptor sensitivity, leading to tolerance, dependence, or changes in mood and behavior. This dynamic process helps the brain maintain balance but can also contribute to addiction and behavioral changes.
