Neural repair

Neural repair refers to the process by which the nervous system, particularly the brain and spinal cord, attempts to recover from injury or damage. This can involve the growth of new nerve cells (neurogenesis), re-establishment of connections (synapses), or the brain’s ability to reorganize itself (neuroplasticity) to regain lost functions. While the nervous system has some natural capacity to repair, especially in peripheral nerves, central nervous system repair is limited. Researchers aim to develop therapies, such as stem cell treatments or growth factors, to enhance the body’s natural repair mechanisms and improve recovery outcomes.
