Network Interface Controller (NIC)

A Network Interface Controller (NIC) is a hardware component in a computer that enables it to connect to a network, such as the internet or a local company's network. It acts as a translator, converting data from the computer into a form that can travel across the network, and vice versa. NICs can be built into the motherboard or added as an expansion card and typically have a unique identifier called a MAC address. Essentially, the NIC is the bridge that allows your computer to communicate with other devices and access network resources efficiently.
