NETmundial

NETmundial was a global meeting held in 2014 to discuss how the internet should be managed and governed. It brought together governments, companies, civil society, and experts to develop a set of principles for a free, open, and secure internet. The goal was to promote cooperation, transparency, and respect for human rights online, ensuring that no single entity controls or constrains the internet’s development. While it was not a binding agreement, NETmundial aimed to shape policies and foster international collaboration to keep the internet open and accessible for everyone.
