Nephroureterectomy
A nephroureterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the kidney, along with the ureter (the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder), usually due to cancer or other serious disease. This operation involves carefully taking out the affected kidney and ureter to eliminate disease and prevent its spread. It's often performed when cancer is confined to these areas. The surgery may be done through an open incision or minimally invasive methods. After removal, the remaining urinary system continues to function, typically with the other healthy kidney, helping to maintain normal bodily functions.
