Nephronophthisis
Nephronophthisis is a genetic kidney disorder that primarily affects children and young adults. It causes the kidneys to gradually become scarred and lose their ability to filter waste effectively. This condition leads to the development of fluid-filled cysts at the kidney's outer edges and results in chronic kidney disease. Symptoms often include growth problems, anemia, and eventually, kidney failure. Since it's inherited, it typically runs in families. Treatment mainly involves managing symptoms and, in advanced cases, dialysis or kidney transplantation to replace the lost kidney function.
