Neoplasm

A neoplasm, commonly called a tumor, is an abnormal growth of cells resulting from uncontrolled cell division. Unlike normal tissues, neoplasms can invade surrounding tissues and, in some cases, spread to other parts of the body. They can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Benign neoplasms usually grow slowly and do not spread, while malignant neoplasms have the potential to invade nearby tissues and metastasize. Neoplasms arise from genetic changes in cells, and their development is influenced by factors like genetics, environment, and lifestyle. Treatment varies depending on the type and behavior of the neoplasm.
