Nenets
The Nenets are an Indigenous people native to the Arctic regions of Russia, particularly the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. They are traditionally nomadic reindeer herders, relying on reindeer for transportation, food, and clothing. The Nenets have their own language—Nenets—which belongs to the Uralic language family. They maintain rich cultural traditions, including distinct art, music, and celebrations rooted in their close relationship with the Arctic environment. Despite modern influences, many Nenets continue their traditional lifestyle, balancing cultural preservation with adaptation to contemporary challenges like climate change and economic development.
