Nectocaris

Nectocaris is an extinct marine creature from the Cambrian period, about 500 million years ago. It is considered an early chordate or a primitive ancestor related to animals like fish and vertebrates. Nectocaris had a soft body with a pair of fins, a head with large eyes, and possible primitive jet propulsion capabilities, allowing it to move swiftly through the water. Its fossils provide important clues about the evolution of early vertebrates and the diversification of marine life during the Cambrian explosion.
