Neanderthal DNA

Neanderthal DNA refers to the genetic material inherited from Neanderthals, an ancient human species that lived in Europe and Asia. Modern humans outside of Africa carry about 1-2% of Neanderthal DNA, which reflects past interbreeding events. This DNA influences some aspects of our biology, such as immune responses and skin traits, and helps researchers understand human evolution and migration.
