NCS (Nerve Conduction Study)
A Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) is a diagnostic test that measures how well electrical signals travel along your nerves. During the test, small electrodes are placed on your skin over specific nerves, and a mild electrical impulse is applied. The device then records how quickly and efficiently the nerves send signals. This helps identify nerve damage or dysfunction, such as in cases of numbness, weakness, or tingling. NCS is often performed alongside electromyography (EMG) to give a comprehensive understanding of nerve and muscle health, guiding accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
