NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education)
NCATE, or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, was an organization that accredited teacher education programs in the United States. Its goal was to ensure high-quality training for future educators by evaluating programs against rigorous standards. This accreditation process helped ensure that new teachers are well-prepared for the classroom, fostering effective teaching and improved student learning. In 2013, NCATE merged with another organization to form the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), which continues the mission of enhancing teacher preparation through accreditation.
