Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah

Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah was the last independent Nawab (ruler) of Bengal before British colonial rule took over. He reigned from 1756 to 1757 and is known for resisting British expansion in India. His leadership was marked by efforts to strengthen his domain and oppose encroachments by the British East India Company. However, conflicts with them culminated in the Battle of Plassey in 1757, where his forces were defeated, leading to British dominance in Bengal and ultimately greater control over much of India. Siraj ud-Daulah's short rule symbolizes a pivotal moment in Indian history, marking the decline of native sovereignty and the rise of British colonial power.
