naval blockades
A naval blockade is a military strategy where a country uses its naval forces to prevent ships from entering or leaving a specific port or area. This is done to restrict the flow of goods, resources, or military supplies to an enemy, often during a conflict. By controlling access to these maritime routes, the blockading country aims to weaken the opponent's economy and military capabilities, forcing them to surrender or negotiate. Blockades can be full, stopping all ships, or selective, allowing some vessels through while targeting specific ones.
