Navajo Code Talkers
Navajo Code Talkers were Native American Marines during World War II who used the Navajo language to create an unbreakable code for secure military communications. Their knowledge of intricate Navajo vocabulary, combined with a unique coding system, allowed the U.S. military to transmit messages quickly and securely, without the risk of enemy interception. Despite the language being unwritten, the Code Talkers successfully delivered vital information that contributed to the Allies' victory in the Pacific theater. Their contributions remained classified for many years, highlighting the significant but often overlooked role of Indigenous peoples in the war.
