Natural Kinds Theory

Natural Kinds Theory is the philosophical idea that certain categories or groups of things naturally exist in the world because they share essential, unchanging characteristics. For example, gold is a natural kind because every piece of gold has the same basic properties, like atomic structure, that distinguish it from other materials. These kinds are considered to reflect real divisions in nature, not just labels we give. Understanding natural kinds helps us grasp how the world is organized and how we classify things based on their true, underlying nature rather than arbitrary labels.
