Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs)
Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) are a group of hydrocarbons—such as propane, butane, ethane, and natural gasoline—that are extracted from natural gas and crude oil during processing. They are called "liquids" because, under normal conditions, they exist as liquids or can be easily turned into liquids. NGLs are valuable as fuels for heating and cooking, as raw materials for chemicals and plastics, and as energy sources. They are transported via pipelines and storage tanks and play a key role in energy markets due to their versatility and wide applications.
