Natural Environment Teaching

Natural Environment Teaching (NET) is an instructional approach that uses everyday situations and activities to teach skills to individuals, often those with developmental challenges. Instead of structured drills, learning occurs in real-life contexts, such as during play, meal times, or routines. This method encourages engagement, motivation, and generalization of skills because it appeals to the person's interests and happens in familiar settings. By integrating learning into typical daily activities, NET promotes functional, meaningful skills that can be easily applied outside of therapy sessions.
