Native Corporations
Native Corporations are private companies established under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971 to manage land and financial resources for Alaska Native peoples. These for-profit entities are owned primarily by Alaska Natives and serve to support their economic development, cultural preservation, and community needs. They hold title to thousands of acres of land and have the authority to develop natural resources, generate revenue, and distribute profits to shareholders. Native Corporations play a crucial role in promoting the economic self-sufficiency and cultural heritage of Alaska Native communities.
