Native American Confederacy

A Native American confederacy was a political alliance of multiple tribes that united for mutual benefit, such as defense, trade, and negotiation with outsiders. These confederacies often had centralized leadership or councils that coordinated decisions while respecting tribal independence. Examples include the Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) in the Northeast and the Creek Confederacy in the Southeast. They provided strength through unity, preserved cultural identities, and played key roles in regional politics long before European contact and colonization altered their ways of life.
