National Women's Suffrage Association
The National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA), founded in 1869 by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, was a major organization advocating for women's voting rights in the United States. It focused on political activism, lobbying for the constitutional right for women to vote, and challenging laws that excluded women from voting. The NWSA played a key role in the women's suffrage movement, working to achieve gender equality in voting through persistent efforts and advocacy. In 1890, it merged with another group to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association, further advancing the fight for women's rights.
